Well I had a dream of this...
sorry I can't stop my dreams.
Anyways,
your maneuver rolls determined the amount of hexes or squares you could move you unit.
Some hexes or Squares here had arrows on them...
this would bring you to another level...
so if you were on a arrow, this would allow you to enter the dungeon,
likewise..it could also bring you up a flight.
Oddly enough,
all the levels were on the same map,
so you did not need to change maps.
There could be a secret map...
like a secret dungeon,
if you passed on this arrow, perhaps a new map could be brought out.
It seems rather simple though, as there were arrows everywhere like staircases.
The map was a layout of the entire castle. |

Hexagon Grid:
This would be used for terrains, or territories, water regions...
Square Grid:
This would be used for stuctures, dungeons, or castles for example.
A battle dome could have a variety of different grids.
There could even be a Diamond Grid.
The diamond grid could represent warp areas for example. |

Perhaps the Dragon Area (Dragon Cave as well) could be a pentagon grid,
thus representing their die face.
Pentagons won't really align in a grid...
but it may make an intresting trail in a dragon cave,
with some areas that could be grouped together making a larger section. |

Dungeon
No walls added
Each maneuver equals 1 square...
you must be next to the unit to attack.
In this Duel...
it is a Dungeon Duel... (no additional walls)
each unit may run away...if they can get to the exit...
or battle to gain strength...
or perhaps battle a littile to gain strength, and then escape.
Perhaps a srtaight out victory...
Magical Items Upgrades:
they must remain in divisions...
so a speed slippers can be upgraded to winged sandals...
but not another division. (Like an eyebitter/Missile for example)
Weapons Stash:
An Upgraded Weapon can be saved,
however you may only carry one magical item.
Damage and Upgrades:
If a unit is inflicted with Damage and it saves...
the unit will receive +points
if the next level is say 50 points,
the unit may choose to upgrade itself or a weapon.
Likewise if you kill a unit you will receive points.
There is no terrain determinant for what type of action is taken,
so you can cast Magic, Missile, melee.
First you may roll a maneuver roll if you choose.
You then can take up to as many squares as you rolled...or none.
Your opponent will not have a counter maneuver.
Each player maneuvers on their turn only if they choose to.
Switching Magical Items:
You may want to catch your opponent..
So during your maneuver roll...you opt to use your maneuver Magical item,
then Durring your attack...switch to a melee Magical item on the fly.
Summoning Dragonkin could acted as a wall of defense.

Jim, if you find yourself posting to yourself, then you are brainstorming and have hi-jacked a thread post.
I'm moving this to a new thread because I don't want to lose it, but I can't have it cluttering up other topics. _________________ Multiplayer Champion Gencon11/Battlefest Champion(tied) GenCon10/World Champion GenCon07/National Champion Origins05/Intermediate Champion GenCon02/Novice Champion Origins99 |

Well it's more like fishing...
as I really don't know what Duels really is...
Chuck mentioned to me that if you are seeking some sort of answer to a question...rather than email people...post it on the forum, and you'll likely get some sort of response. |

Ok well I did have one further input...
the Stalemate Concept:
If the same exact spell is cast 3 times in a row...
or maybe perhaps 3 times would be the max per DUEL....
then the Duel is considered a Stalemate.
This will keep the game fresh,
and a single hailstorm for points against a larger unit will not be able to be used as a way to get as many points.
If you find an opponent is just racking up points...then you could cause a stalemate to end the DUEL. |

So I guess I'll go on...
next will be the board displayed with a hit chart and weapons stash. |

Dungeon with weapons stash and points counter

The weapons stash could have a health/slot limit.
So perhaps 12 health and only 5 spaces.
maybe a Magic/Missile/Maneuver/Melee/Save slot only. (one of each)

Besides the weapons stash...
a unit could carry maps, orbs, or gold.
A map might inform you that behind a wall...is a treasure...or an artifact.
To pick up an artifact or treasure...simply land on the square or hex.
if you have an empty slot in your weapons stash, you may add it,
otherwise you'll have to drop one magical item.
So this may be why a unit would go into a dungeon in the first place...
the other unit may be there as a trap....
meaning no treasure...run!!! |

Ok another idea....
Seeing how we have computer experts within SFR.
Instead of writing down a person's level,
create a card.
This would be like an ATM card.
Or perhaps similar to a cell phone....
or maybe an online site where the numbers are posted.
Quite simply...
a player would play the game Duels...
and the Dungeon master would upgrade their card.
A laymen's version...
use a flash drive...
and then their stats would be posted to the flash drive.
Not as high tech...but it would be a quick way to keep your records. |
