|
|
We're up to having two to three Dragon Dice Tournaments a month in my store, and people play every Friday.
What are some fun and interesting Tournament Formats that I can run to keep things interesting?
Some of what I've Got:
| Quote: | Sealed Box - Each Player Opens a New 2 Player Starter and plays with the dice inside.
I would LOVE to do this in my store, but the problem is that some players don't want to fork over the dough to play in it. I plan on dropping prices on the starters to encourage people to play, but they still need to be high enough to cover the cost of a prize. I also though of having players split starters and play with 18 point armies, but then it comes down to getting A. and even number of players, and B. getting players to agree on a starter. Anyone have ideas to help me out with this format?
Single Race - Plain, Simple, Straightforward. I like it.
No Magicians - Players play without Magicians or Magic.
I like this format. It keeps it simple and fun. All too often the games here get bogged down with magic.
All Monster - Only dice allowed are Monsters.
I like this format, I will be on the back burner because not alot of people have enough monsters for a good size army.
Monster Summoning Rules - Armies consist of 1-3 pointers that can summon monsters in a similar way to dragonkin.
This is one of the variants one of my players came up with.
Dragon Summoning Rules - Magic can only be used to summon Dragons for 5 points a piece.
Again another in-store variant. |
Can anyone think of any other fun and interesting variants that I can use as tournament formats? _________________ Nerdvana

If you have enough players, 'teams' is an interesting format.
usually a 4 player game with opposites being team members.
if a team wins two terains its game over. so games are usually fast and short. _________________ Multiplayer Champion Gencon11/Battlefest Champion(tied) GenCon10/World Champion GenCon07/National Champion Origins05/Intermediate Champion GenCon02/Novice Champion Origins99 |

I like Dragonfest, Pseudo-Starters, and Lucky 17.
Another variant pitched in the store today was No Racials. All dice are played without Racial Abilities or Spells. _________________ Nerdvana

hehe...yes we did like Dragonfest...
most armies had few Dragon Slayers or Dragonlords.
Pseudo-Starters was really fun...
I won that one with 4 magic... (although there was no limit on magic)
Amazon/Swamp Stalker (brought a Crocosaur and Chimera)
The Amazon Bullseye worked the best.
Lucky 17 is a new one we never tried...
we wanted to use a prime number as the base for the components. |
