Doh!...I knew I was going to trip up on that silly D word sooner or later! Sorry!
So, as for the Novice Tournaments, are they just that, Tournaments? Meaning, prizes for the new player/winner in the alotted 2 hours?
I'll definitely work where ever needed. Looking forward to it!
Thanks,

Do we know who all will be there? Specifically, who will be running the events? I'm trying to plan out my schedule, and it would be helpful if I knew who was running what so I know what times I have available for other activities.
Does anyone know if John Koslow will be there this year? As it stands now, I assume I'll be running the main events unless someone else wants to run some of them (the main events are pretty easy to run, mostly just keeping time, setting up who plays against who, and answering some rules questions). I'm not too comfortable running demos or novice tournaments, so I leave those in the hands of more capable people |

No prizes for novice tournaments. Its purpose is to teach them the basic mechanics of the game thru playing a few rounds.
You should try a bit of everything (booth demos, run a novice event, and run a main event), though booth demos would be great as there are alot of hours available to fill.
Thanks in advance for your help! |

BTW, there won't be a lot of walking. We are in the main convention center (Hall F) for all events. That's right next door to the exhibit hall. So at least for Dragon Dice, the distance is small, 4-5 minutes of walking and you can go from one to the other. _________________ You can never have too many dice.

Speaking of something else, does anyone have any suggestions/ "can't miss" events for the first-time GenCon attendee?
Please PM me with suggestions, so we don't get too far off-topic in this thread.
Thanks,

I'll be attending. I'll volunteer running a Novice or Intermediate event. I umpired the "Sealed Box" event last year, and would be willing to do so again. _________________ Daniel Burkley

Yes, it would be great if Steve could get out to Gencon. I'd like to see him get in a few games, too. _________________ Daniel Burkley

I believe John is planning on attending (he's reserved a hotel room atleast) [insert cliffs normal plug for people who want to share the room with them]
as for novice events, last year we gave a polybag of a kicker to the winner. I would assume that we would do that again.
if you teach someone the game and they do well and you give them a kicker, they will tend to buy a starter at the same time. so its marketing _________________ Multiplayer Champion Gencon11/Battlefest Champion(tied) GenCon10/World Champion GenCon07/National Champion Origins05/Intermediate Champion GenCon02/Novice Champion Origins99 |

Ok, since event sign-up starts this Sunday, I'm going to get the first pass exhibitor badge list in by tomorrow. If you are going to help out, and you want me to get you an exhibitor badge (required if you are going to be in the exhibit area before it opens), then PM me with your registration number. Also, the name you used for registration, and the name you want on the badge (if different). Note, the registration system is new since last year. So you need to register all over again. And of course your number will be different....
Here's a quick link to the GenCon registration system: http://www.genconreg.com/ _________________ You can never have too many dice.

Dang. The intermediate tournament for Saturday evening got cut. I had a choice between having that cut or Battlefest. Sorry, I chose Battlefest. _________________ You can never have too many dice.

Unless there's something else that needs covered, I'll plan on doing what I usually do: spend most of my time running events.
Chuck - please include me on the exhibitor badge list.
See everyone in about 4 months. _________________ John Koslow |

Ok, but you need to register with GenCon, and give me the ID number. That makes it a lot easier to get badges. Just register, don't actually buy a badge.
So far I've only heard back from Dave with an ID number. _________________ You can never have too many dice.

I've checked SFR's website as well as the updated Excell spreadsheet (4-17-2009) for GenCon Indy 2009...
it still has battlefest listed.
So is Battlefest still canceled?cut? |

Unless someone volunteers to run some events (c'mon people!), I'm assuming that John will run the novice events and I'll be running the main events.
Dan has volunteered to run the Sealed Box event (Fri 6 pm).
Hey Chuck, how about posting a sticky topic that shows the current status so people know what's available for them to work? |
