Hi All,

In just a few days, 3 of us, will be at the Emerald City Comic Con demoing DD! Very Happy I know that typically Comic Book shows aren't the best venue, but any exposure is better than none. Besides, we might some good contacts with retailers in our area. If not, we'll have a good excuse to get in afew games of DD! Woo Hoo! Laughing
I just noticed that we are listed on the ECCC website under Gaming. Please check it out. http://www.emeraldcitycomicon.com/gaming.php
It's a very small acknowledgement, but it's there nonetheless! We are hoping for the best Very Happy. We keep ya posted!

Thanks for all your support,
Dave

Hello All,

What can I say about this Comic Con? It was nothing short of AMAZING! Very Happy
The old phrase "quality not quantity" definitely sums up this event. We probably had 30-50 people stop by, many had collections and were thrilled that DD is alive and well. Jace and Kaitlin did all of the hard work! They ran over 15 demos (13 are documented on Rep Demo sheets). I could not have done this event without them!! Thank You!
I made contact with a comic book/gaming store owner in the Seattle who is a huge gamer. I only spoke to him for about 2 minutes (he had no time for even a demo, it was busy!), but he wants to sponsor/support a DD event during the PAX (I think that's what it's called) West convention. He said that we will plan something.
So all in all, it was a very positive experience! I think we really turned some heads (look for some new faces here on the forum). I hope we made great progress to bringing DD back to the NorthWest!

Thank You All for your support,
Dave

Hey Dave,

that's fantastic, I hope I can do something similar here in this little country too. Some people I talked you about are certainly very much interested and I will demo the game to a very select public after my retirement (which is exactly within 16 days).

I will let you guys know how it went!

In the meantime I wish all of you much Dragon Dice fun!

Günter Wink

Dave, send me the contact information for the Seattle store. I'll be there in April on business (80% chance of it anyway). I should be able to find a couple of hours one evening to stop by.

Maybe you can visit the store I'm trying to convince too, Chuck! You can even stay at our home and try the Belgian beer and chocolates (though the two together is not an ideal combination I'm afraid)! Mr. Green

Guinness and chocolate go well together. Belgian beer must be that bitter stuff.

Not likely I'll be in your part of the world. There is a chance I may go to Berlin this year. If there are any stores there I should visit, let me know!

Hey Chuck, Belgian beer "bitter"???? No way, there are hundreds of Belgian beers and a most of them aren't bitter at all. And Guinness isn't Belgian; that's maybe why I don't like the taste of it!

Guinness and chocolates ... I don't know but it doesn't seem my taste at all! Shocked

As to stores in Berlin, I don't know anything about them. But because it's a big city, there should be some "game stores" there! I can check if you want to! Wink

You world-trotter you.

I'll be going from my bedroom to the kitchen to the office several times this year and might even make it to the grocery store once in October. Maybe I'll see a game store that carries more than Pokemon while I'm out. Mr. Green

Oh, come on Dave, you're the one who's responsible for most of the magic we weaved! If it wasn't for your ancient kicker pack displays and BattleBox, we would never have seen all those gamers who had actually collected Dragon Dice back in the day! And I can't believe that we found as many as we did! I will NEVER forget the look on roughly half the people's faces who walked by our demo - something like this Shocked As the realization dawned on them that all those dice they had collected way back when were still good, and all the hate they held for TSR could be let go Laughing It just made my weekend to hear so many people exclaim "Oh my God, I still have my old dice packed up in Tequila boxes in my basement, I'll have to dust them off!"

And that was one of the coolest parts about the 'Con, we introduced the game to as many new players as we did old! It makes me feel all warm and toasty inside to know that we sent so many people home in a frantic rush to find their old collections, and also found a couple people who were sick of Magic: The Gathering and were looking for a new avenue to invest their gaming money. And my personal favorite were the kids, we got a lot of parents bringing their little gamers to the 'Con, and let me tell you they loved everything about it! From all the different colors, to the transportability (kids love to drag their favorite toys around everywhere), and of course they loved chewing me up and spitting me out with their dragons (when some demos were short on time, I sort of "fake summoned" a dragon to one of my armies so they could roll the dragon and get a feel for how great it feels to get tailx3 and breath Mr. Green) I think that Dragon Dice has the potential to be the next schoolyard game, up there with Pokemon and Bakugan Wink

I would have liked to have come online sooner to yak about the 'Con, but unfortunately I had to work an 11-hour shift the day after and I also caught a nasty head cold that I am still recovering from. I really hope that we get a lot of the 'Con goers to come online and post on the forum, I'd love to connect with them and give them a follow-up to the demo, you know? Let them know that they're not all alone in Dragon Dice world? Which reminds me.. SFR, Inc, what exactly can I do with my Rep Demo sheet, the signatures for doing demos? I don't exactly care if I get anything or not, I just want to let you guys know that I love the game and I'm trying to spread the word. In fact, I actually was so concerned with connecting with Convention-goers and doing the demos I completely forgot to have most people sign the sheet after a demo! Mr. Green I was so concerned with moving onto the next demo, I sorta got into a groove. It really killed me when I was in the middle of a demo with someone and then I noticed that someone else was looking at our display, and I couldn't do anything about it! For me it's all about getting people to know about the game, because it's so wonderfully perfect that I believe it will sell itself at that point Very Happy

In the end, I just want more people to play with, dang it! Like Cliff said, it's hard to find a store that carries anything but Pokemon nearby Sad

Jace you will find that most conventions are like that. We've been at Gencon for many years in a row and every year we find people who've never 'seen' us there and think its still newly returned.

For your sheet, send it to me for now. We will figure out what to do with it.

Cliff
