| A pretty open question. What's your favorite race to use, and why? |

3 way tie going on.
Treefolk - Have two AMAZING racial powers and have very well laid out specialized units that can get the job done + a nice spell list.
Goblins - Don't have any bad monsters and only one unit I really don't like. Double maneuvers is always good and their spells are great.
Scalders - I just think they are cool first of all. Secondarily they have two of the best offensive spells in the game and some really really good dice. |

To USE, Goblins, easy.
They are easy to collect, have a great, easy to remember racial power, and the dice have a really nice icon distribution.
The 2 point mages, especially, are perfect. When you have a mage, most of all when he's on an 8th face, you want him to save, maneuver and cast magic. That's all this guy does. No trash results.
Goblins have some of the most fun units in the game, IMO.
Leopard Riders, Trolls, pelters, hedge wizards.
Plus, Goblins, in my experience, work really well even if you run all commons. I call this the 'cockroach army' because they just won't stay squished; they keep coming back.
Plus, Gold and Black Magic are a fantastic combo. Path and Open Grave together? YES.
There are some dice I like better for artwork, collector's pride, etc, but Goblins are my favorite to use. |

Firewalkers!!
They have the best Monster in the Game, Flaming Shields are awesome, and Terrain flight gives you a big tactical advantage, and now even stronger by using Wastelands. |

| Personally, I have very, very little experience actually playing the game, but I have more Goblins than anything else (though I don't have a troll, which I've come to realize is probably one of the best monsters in the game), and they seem like a lot of fun, and Undead seem like they'd be fun to use as well. I need to play some more so I can figure out my playstyle. |

Feral: major reasons why: Wind Walk and Transmute Rock to Mud. Hide. Fast and save well.
And never count out Feralization. Bringing them back for free is just a great thing. _________________ You can never have too many dice.

And what's really frustrating is my sons have each won a big title (one Worlds, one Nationals). _________________ Steve "DDice" Braun

I just played a few games with a friend, and we were both learning the game- by the third game we had gotten the rules down pretty well, and then things started getting intense. That third game (36-point) went on for about two hours, with him using Firewalkers and me using Undead. It was a blast. Dragons were getting summoned left and right, we each took a terrain at least once only to lose it again afterwards (mainly to dragon attacks), and in the end my undead army beat his Firewalkers, but only after my Minor Death scored some AMAZING luck with Plague. And I mean amazing. (On TWO occasions, he had gotten my home army down to one single unit- a Minor Death- and I made a Skirmish attack as a last-ditch effort, only to have his ENTIRE ARMY of 6+ units of rares & monsters fail to generate a save after I rolled Plague. TWICE that happened. It was epic.) We played one game after that, a 36-pointer with him using Coral Elves and me using Amazons, and he slaughtered me without me getting a single kill on him.
So I really like Undead (especially Minor Death), but the fact that they have no capacity of use Ranged attacks (aside from ID icons) really is a huge weakness. So far they're my favorite race, but I'll try out some more in the meantime. |

The undead are different having no missile, but the stepp damage can make up for it if you use it right. _________________ Multiplayer Champion Gencon11/Battlefest Champion(tied) GenCon10/World Champion GenCon07/National Champion Origins05/Intermediate Champion GenCon02/Novice Champion Origins99 |

I see this as a strength rather than a weakness. Undead are pretty focussed because they lack the anti-synergy between the melee and missile faces.
my favourite army probably is the Firewalkers. I really like the red-blue colour combination, a very nice spell list, and the idea of playing djin-like meanies. Too bad their dice are pretty poor, save for a few spectacular exceptions.

I have to agree w/DialFunk in that a lot of armies capable of multi actions can produce garbage, where as undead are highly lacking in maneuvers and missle almost always roll saves or melee, or magic depending on the army focus.
I mean come on, cantrip/haunt in a skirmish is top dog right? Undead for the win. |

| @Skawilly yeah the undead kicked my ass this week when playing with my friend Jeff. My rolls just sucked . I won one game with firewalkers by a hair. Then my rolls just sucked with the feral. The undead actually beat me in maneuver rolls thats how crappy my rolls were! |

| Gotta go with Swamp Stalkers. They were the first race I was started playing with and can't picture going with any other. Love the lore, love the racial ability, and was always a big fan of snake-men. |

Enjoy the Firewalkers. The Sunflare is consistently awesome for some punishing magic. Big fan of the Fireshadow too.
Add wastelands and terrain flight....That's fun stuff. |
