The Ducosim is from 10:00 till 17:30. I guess if we all try to be there around 10 and start when all players are present we should be ok.

The current list of participants seems to be:
DutchJohn
Drachenwürfel
Oliver
and me.
(Wietmarschen, you're still occupied for that date?)

edit: what are the plans for giving demo's? I wouldn't mind giving some, but I'm not sure if I want to stay till the end of the day. I suppose it would be smartest to start as early as possible with the dutch open, as I assume it to be a bit too tough for new players. That way the demoing can start when it gets busier.

I'm still in the process of recovering. Wow. I had so much fun today. Amazing. To share a bit of the fun - here's a little report from the Dutch Open Championship.

06:00 - Got out of bed. Stuff like this is physically painful for students like me.
07:00 - Do lots of traveling. I arrive half an hour early.
10:00 - Door to the location opens. I'm the first to arrive and find the tables.

A few minutes later, Drachenwurfel and his friend Oliver arrive. Due to public transport issues, DutchJohn arrives half an hour later. After a friendly introduction, we immediately commence the battles!

This is the terror I brought along with me. Not the most brutal army around, but one I'd be having fun with none the less.

Horde:

Frontier:
Home:

(and some minor terrains)

First round I faced DutchJohn and his treefolk army.
The treefolk where made up by a bit of everything (cavalry, missile, magic and melee). Because of its multi-purpose nature the army couldn't really make a solid opposition, allowing my very specialized army to quickly take the advantage. I won the horde roll, got pretty good terrains (roughly 3 - 6 - 6 on home - campaign - horde), turned his home to 7 and send 9 health to the DUA with a lethal volley. Then John proceeded to move the frontier up to 7 with his lonely stranglevine. This opened up a perfect opportunity for me to end the game quickly. I moved his home up to 8, shot the stranglevine from the frontier and then sent my lonely scalder that left the frontier the previous turn back in. This proved to be decisive, as the little reinforcements John had left could not muster enough power to both stand up to my missile volleys and stop the glower from moving the terrain up to a second 8th.

Next game: Drachenwurfel with his firewalkers.
Drachenwurfel brought four fireshadows, a gold medallion, and an assortment of light melee and cavalry dice to fight for his cause. I once again won the horde roll and once again started battle with reasonably good terrain rolls (roughly 3 - 4 - 5), though I immediately realized that three blue terrains would be an issue. Problems increased when I got quite a poor opening volley (for roughly 13) that only managed to kill 2 firewalkers. I then turned his home up to 5, but immediately felt like I made a mistake.
Though I did manage to successfully oppose Drachenwurfel's next maneuver action, his ensuing melee action took out 4 or 5 health while returning his 4 with the logo. He then proceeded to turtle up on his home. In my next turn I was allowed to freely maneuver his terrain, which I then rolled back up to 4 again. My cavalry left his home, facing an opposition that was too threatening to keep hanging around. This now meant we could both race to the 8th. My home would arrive at the same turn as his, but I would still get a round of free shooting.
Sadly, the volley once again proved to be ineffective. I then discovered that I had underestimated drachenwurfel's potential to cast magic, as two red/blue hybrid drakes were sent my way. My only hope was to maneuver the frontier to the 8th before my home army would succumb to the beasts. I got a little help though, as a round of claw-belly and belly-belly followed, forcing Drachenwurfel to keep summoning, and allowing me to patch up a bit of damage by promoting. I got the an attempt to maneuver for a second 8th. I was sucesfully opposed. The Drachenwurfel got to try. He got opposed as well. Then, seconds before the end of the game, I took this picture.

The game ended with 22 melee coming my way. (sooo close! I was sooo close!)

Oliver and his goblin - amazon army where my last game.
The game actually looked a lot like the game against DutchJohn. I won the horde roll, got 1 - 3 - 6 ('ish) for terrains, got lucky on outmaneuvering the goblins at my home and blasted a good deal of goblins to bits. My cavalry once again proceeded to march up to the 8th where they teamed up with my missile army. The only difference was that Oliver bravely assaulted my cavalry somewhere in the process, taking another chunk out of his army. My missile and cavalry units swapped place at the 8th, and in an effort to stom my cavalry at the frontier, the remaining pieces of Oliver's army where shot and assaulted to pieces.

Me battling Oliver (I guess the smirk gives away who I am - I'm already in quite a good board position here)

Meanwhile DutchJohn and Drachenwurfel fought a furious battle as well.

(we had to turn them sideways sometimes as light got trapped between their foreheads, creating beams that might have gotten dangerous if left unchecked Mr. Green Or was it just 2 excessively genius minds giving off radiance?)

Too bad it didn't turn out for the best for our forest-friends.

With everyone having played everyone, the final results where:

Drachenwurfel: 3 - 0
DialFforFunky: 2 - 1
Oliver: 1 - 2
DutchJohn: 0 - 3

Drachenwurfel is the First Dutch DragonDice Champion! Congratulations Drachenwurfel!

Feeling that this wasn't enough carnage for one day, we decided to have a 4-player battle with the same armies. There was too much going on to describe it all as the game took more than 2.5 hours, but here are some highlights:

There used to be an army here:

The chaotic board. Notice the four dragons that just devoured another army, the bloodied icons still showing.

I was in a pretty good position at that point, as all other armies were mostly depleted while I held an 8th at full strength. Good, except for those for dragons now coming after me now though.

Luckily they turned out to be cute little puppies that my army then proceeded to butcher.

My luck eventually turned as I did not respond to Oliver's army landing at my 8th, choosing instead to try and take care of those annoying mages. I was all but wiped out and played no further role in the game. At one point Drachenwurfel returned to full strength, only to get beaten up, as did Oliver several times, and as did DutchJohn. However, it was DutchJohn's battered army that eventually sealed the game, capturing my old 8th and then capturing a second with a bit of help of a TRtM he barely managed to squeeze out of his mages. DutchJohn wins the 4-way battle!

Tired but happy, we decide it's enough for today. We chat a bit, then decide to head home. I take a quick stroll though the fair before I go.

16:56 - I miss my bus as it fails to spot me while I'm only 10 meters from the bus stop.
16:57 - Running didn't help. Once again, I miss the bus by roughly 10 meters.
17:38 - Overly crowded train-ride begins. I'm surrounded by 6 slightly drunk older woman returning from the libelle (=women's magazine) - convention *shudders*.
19:20 - Torment ends as the train arrives.
19:50 - The pain from the ride home is soon driven away by the sweet taste of pancakes. I'm blissfully happy once again.

Thanks Drachenwurfel and Oliver for showing up at our tournament. And also many, many thanks to DutchJohn for organizing the tournament! You managed to get us a great place, and made it possible to have such a fun day! Thanks again!

So i have to say thank you to Dutchjohn and Dialforfunky, even we were only 4 Players we had so much fun.
The games were great, the people all nice and all the Games were lot of Fun.
The tournament Games were really good, but the two and a half hour four players match was one of the greatest Games i ever made.
It was really special that all four players set having Fun in this Game first, and this made it really awesome.

So i got both European Titels now, lets see for the Worlds next year Wink
