|
|
Two questions arose during my battles at home:
1.a) Dragon Belly: The rules say that the dragon looses it's five automatic saves and that five hits would kill the dragon in this attack. Since Belly is no attack, does that mean that the dragon is rolled again or does "attack" refer to the whole dragon action (there-fore rolling the dragon and getting the belly is already the attack and the dragon is not rolled again)?
1 b). Dragon Wing: The dragon flies away after the attack is resolved. Same question as above, roll again or not? Since there's only the wing symbol yet, there's no attack to be resolved. In that case it should be rolled again, right??
2. The rules say: chose a players DUA (the one with the most dead units in it) and use (if applicable) all dead units to double your black magic ID's. On the other hand it says I can use ALL dead units in the game. Can I spread my icons? Let's say five ID's doubled via dead units in one DUA and another two ID's from the same magic roll doubled via deads in another DUA? Or does doubling end when all dead units in that one DUA are "used"??
Oh yeah, and another one, just to confirm:
Spirit Furnace, Goblin specific black spell:
I've got 9 commons and 1 uncommon in my DUA (=11hp). After Spirit Furnace they're all buried and I get 22 black magic points for the buried units (equaling their health doubled)??? Wow!! That beat the s...t out of my wifes Lava Elves! After using four magic for the SF spell I had another 7 left from the roll plus the 22 out of the DUA!! (just hope I did it right??) _________________

1. The only time a dragon is re-rolled is when it rolls its Tail icon. The Belly and Wings generate zero damage to the army being attacked.
2. For non-Undead units, you choose one player's DUA and you can use those dead units to double your black magic. Undead units can use the combined total of all dead units in the game to double black magic.
3. Sounds good to me.

I have a question about Spirit Furnace when used with Undead dead (if that's not an oxymoron). Since the Undead racial ability of "resist burial" is phrased with a "may," could all of those dead be buried when using Spirit Furnace without making a burial resistance roll? Or, to be a little tricky, could you cast Spirit Furnace and utilize that ability, only getting the magic points from the Undead actually buried? I know-since Spirit Furnace is a Goblins-only racial spell, it's not too likely to come up, but I'm curious. _________________ Steve "DDice" Braun

The term "may" is just that: a choice. If you choose not to roll, then they are buried. Gets much trickier if a "Honor the Dead" was cast on the DUA... _________________ You can never have too many dice.

Hee, hee, call me slow, but....
During our four player game this night (it took 6 hrs!!!) another question arose:
We've talked about belly and wings in the posts above. OK, the Dragon is not rerolled but the rules say that the dragon flys away(wings) after the attack is resolved. Does that mean that the army may make the combinationroll after the wings icon has been rolled and there-fore get a chance to kill the dragon and get the reward??? I think not, 'cause there was no attack. On the other hand, why don't the rules just say the dragon flies away immediately.
So what's the definition of resolving the dragon's attack? _________________

Whenever a dragon rolls wings, it flies away after the army gets it's combination roll to save and attack back. If the dragon is killed, the army gets it's rewards. Even if there is only one dragon, and it only rolls wings, the army still gets it's chance to kill it, and collect it's reward. In this case there was as much attack as a dragon that only rolls belly. Ok, it can't hurt you, but you can sure hurt it... _________________ You can never have too many dice.
