I got zero icons, so you are free to maneuver.

Flashfire rerolls:

Result: 5 - 4 = 1, 1 x 2 = 2, so 2 saves
Would have made a great maneuver roll though...
I concede, as there is no way I can back from this. It will take me at least 3 turns to get my force back together, by which time you already have 2 8ths. Pff, stupid mistake not looking up howl, that SAI killed me (though those rerolls did help).
Thanks for the short game!

Whoa, I wasn't expecting that big of a hit with Flash Fire and Double Saves, I thought I was going to take more in the smite counter attack.
Yes, thanks for the game. Wolf packs can be crazy good in melee sometimes so I wanted to throw some saves with them, henceforth the Phoenixs. The Trolls and Gold Medallion also have good saves and can keep bringing them back if for some reason the they start falling. The Remhroaz was in there just because I wanted another offensive threat so it was between him and the Minor Death and Swallow won out just in case I ran into enemy trolls.
I think taking that Dragon's Lair was a big deal at the beginning. If those mages had been on a Grove, I don't think I could have ever gotten them off of it with all the Wind Walks you could have been casting. _________________ HeroScape - Tree Town Open Champion (2008, 2016), Nebraska Skirmish Champion (2008, 2010) GenCon LightWeight Champion (2009), GenCon General Wars (Aquilla Champion 2009) GenCon Unique Hero Champion (2009, 2010)

Yup, getting them on magic would have been pretty drastic. Lightning bolts could have been brutal on your Wolf packs.
My first turn was horrible though. My first mistake was to take an action with my mages. I thought the 3rd face of the Lair was missile, but after I rolled I discovered it was melee. If I knew, I probably wouldn't even have taken an action (I didn't want to gamble on a minor terrain). My home roll was pretty lousy, starting on 3 with an opponent I most likely wouldn't be outmaneuvering. I would have loved to take a march there and try do some brawling though, as my chances in melee were good enough. But having already spent my first march, I didn't want to pass up the 70% chance to get your home to the 6th face... which I didn't get... So yeah, my first turn was full of failure.
I don't like my army though. I love my firewalker d6'es but they are just a bit too lousy for my tastes. The mages don't really help out with the other d6 weaknesses as even with flashfire I simply find them to be too inconsistent. Not enough damage, not enough maneuver, not enough saves... Being the jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none really hurts in this game.
Your army was pretty impressive. I would probably have thrown in some boring ol' Fireshadows, but other then that it looks tremendous. I guess I never realized how much of a killer the wolf pack is when you get to attack. Rend + group monster + howl = hurt. They seem like they would die to a stiff breeze though. Seems like your army does not want to face ranged stuff.
Anyways, good game! I'll start a new game in a few days, if you are up for another game then I'd be happy to face you again!
