I am so bummed. DEXCON finally moves its date so it doesn't conflict with a mid-July commitment I have had-and we'll be in Florida on vacation that week. _________________ Steve "DDice" Braun

My mom and sister are coming to visit, and I doubt they would appreciate me taking off for a CON while they are here. Bummer. _________________ Michael DeZearn

C0483: 1st Qualifier Round: Dragon Dice “Constructed Starter”. Jared Schuller won this event out of a field of five players, including Frank Warren (Feral Undead), Tomas Carrillo (Firewalker/Scalder), Gavin Youngs (Treefolk/Undead), Jared Schuller (Feral/Selumari), and Jordan Branisen (Dwarves/Selumari).

C0801: 6th Qualifier Round Dragon Dice Battlefest. Jared Schuller won this event out of a field of four players, including Frank Warren (Feral / Undead), Jeff Reichert (Dwarves), Jared Schuller (Firewlkers/Goblins/Selumari), and Russ Lockwood (Frostwings).
C0820: Dragon Dice Novice Tournament. No attendees for this event.
C0855: The 2012 U.S. National Dragon Dice™ Championship – Although 4 players qualified, only three attended. Jared Schuller successfully defended his title. This event was run as an Alpha tournament, with four rounds. The first round was multiplayer, which Frank Warren won the old-fashioned hard way: He wrestled an early 8th Face from Gavin Youngs and held onto it as he contested Jared Schuller for a 2nd terrain. Frank had good luck on his maneuvers and enough luck with his saves to win with a 2-point Undead at his first 8th Face, which rolled an ID for magic to cast Restless Dead on his second army of 3 dice (4 health), which then scored 4 maneuvers + the Restless Dead to take the second 8th Face. The next three matches were round-robin, so all players had a match against each other. Jared won both of his matches to score 4 points, while Frank had to settle with 3 points for the 1st round victory, as he lost both of his 1-on-1 matches.
C0859: Dragon Dice Novice Tournament. No attendees for this event.
C0860: Dragon Dice Playtest Session. No players for this event.
C0953: Dragon Dice Playtest Session. Frank Warren’s Feral defeated Jared Schuller’s Goblins, and the same significant recommendation for the boardgame was made during this playtest session to have the names of the colors printed on the territories.
C0952: Dragon Dice Novice Tournament. No attendees for this event.
The "lucky pull" of the convention goes to Dusty Youngs, who purchased one kicker of Frostwings and pulled a Magus out of the box. _________________ Daniel Burkley

Only because Larry took it easy on me.
I really had a great time learning the game, and I'm glad I picked up a 2-player starter set before leaving the 'con. Printed out a couple of the incredibly-helpful playmats, and started teaching the game to my daughter.
I'm looking forward to future events. |

Hi Joe,
Welcome to the forum. I look forward to seeing you at next year's DREAMATION and/or DEXCON conventions. You will find a lot of information on the forum, but if you have any questions about the game or the rules, feel free to PM me. I also suggest downloading the full rules, which are more up-to-date than the booklet in the 2-player starter set. _________________ Daniel Burkley

Jared used blue magic to cast Windwalk and/or Lightning Strike to help maneuver or remove threats. Wall of Ice was used a few times, and Flash Flood was available as an option - although not used during his three matches. The Unicorn and Gargoyle offered Dispel Magic, which came up for him a few times when needed, but they also offered their racial abilities when maneuvering. The Dragonlord generated quite a few Cantrips during Jared's matches, offering diverse spell options from Burning Hands to Path to Windwalk, or helping the Selumari magicians during a magic action. _________________ Daniel Burkley

Interesting stuff -- always good, as a beginner, to see what the veterans are using and (more importantly) why they're using it. (Which it turn sent me to the "Advanced" section of the rulebook so I could figure out why there were all those dice in the Summoning Pool; in the games I've played so far, there were dragons, period. Now, of course, I want Dragonkin.) |

| I'm always happy to see when people post winning armies and the strategies used! Good job, and thanks for the strategy tidbit. |
