Nothing like an "eleventh hour" event announcement!
We're trying a new convention-long event called Dragon Dice “Single Race Wars”. This is not an official GenCon 2012 event, nor are any tickets required.
As the title suggests, this is a variant of the traditional "Single Race" event, where the participants can schedule their own 1-on-1 or multi-player matches. Each player uses a 66-health army of one race (except Eldarim, but see further below) that consists of:
Three of each common troop type (15-health total)
Two of each uncommon troop type (20-health total)
One of each rare troop type (15-health total)
One of each monster type * (16-health total)
* Since some races have 5 monster types, a player that uses such a race has a choice as to which four of the five monster types will be used in his army.
ELDARIM: A player that elects to play Eldarim must use a 66 health army that consists of:
Four of each common troop type (20-health total)
Two of each uncommon type (16-health total)
Two of each rare type (18-health total)
Three Eldarim Champions, but each must be different (12-health total)
There is no restriction on what color(s) of Eldarim dice are used.
The Summoning Pool must contain three dragons. Only black, blue, gold, green, ivory, and red dragons are permitted (ie: no hybrid dragons, no white dragons).
Use of Dragonkin is optional, with these restrictions:
1. You may have up to 22 health of Dragonkin in your Summoning Pool.
2. Both players must have the same total health of Dragonkin in their Summoning Pool.
3. Before a match, each player must indicate how many health of Dragonkin they have in their Summoning Pool. A player with a higher total must remove Dragonkin until the same total health is present as his opponent.
4. If the opponent has no Dragonkin, then Dragonkin are not used for this match.
Use of Minor Terrains is optional, with these restrictions:
1. You may have up to 6 minor terrains in your Summoning Pool.
2. Both players must have the same total number of minor terrains in their Summoning Pool.
3. Before a match, each player must indicate how many minor terrains are in their Summoning Pool. A player with a higher total must remove minor terrains until the same number are present as his opponent.
4. If the opponent has no minor terrains, then minor terrains are not used for this match.
Starting Thursday morning, I will have a supply of roster sheets at the Dragon Dice event table for anyone to pick up, plus a sign-up sheet. I will provide a play-aid of the race you are playing, which you may find useful during play. I will also give you a tag to attach below your GenCon badge that indicates you are participating in Single Race Wars, which will let other players know and help find opponents to schedule matches with. The roster sheets will still be at the event table, even if I'm not. I will also have some at the SFR booth in the Exhibit Hall.
Each participant fills out the top section, and then start looking for opponents. Matches can be scheduled anytime and anywhere at the convenience of all players. Any free space at the Dragon Dice event tables can be used (and you will have the benefit of an umpire if you have a question).
Each player must bring their roster, which accounts for each match and indicates which opponents and armies the player has faced and the outcome. Each player must sign-off on all roster sheets after the match. The rules and scoring are explained on the roster sheet.
To be eligible for a prize, the player must have at least 3 matches versus 3 different opponents. Players may play against the same opponent up to 3 times during the course of this event. (You can play more than that, but I’ll only count the first three scores.)
Return the roster sheet to me by 7 PM, Saturday night at the Dragon Dice event tables. I’ll determine winners and distribute prizes at that time. Number of games played and overall winning record will be major considerations for prizes.
If this event is well-received, we will continue it in the future. _________________ Daniel Burkley

Great.... I just read about this now... I am already in Indiana! I brought dice for a 36 point single race army of each race, and two Battlefest armies... but not enough dice of any one race to do this. Sheesh!
Too bad the new Goblins and Dwarves kickers arent going to be here! _________________ Shoe |

If I had time to play I'd design a missile army with no dkin and no minors
and if Chuck is offering, I think we should all do Scader armies _________________ Multiplayer Champion Gencon11/Battlefest Champion(tied) GenCon10/World Champion GenCon07/National Champion Origins05/Intermediate Champion GenCon02/Novice Champion Origins99 |

Chuck, drproman just offered to bring an army for me as well, and I already replied to him, so I should have an army for GenCon. Thanks for the offer though! _________________ Shoe |

Tough to design a "missile army" under the build restrictions when you have to have 3 of each common, 2 of each uncommon, one of each rare, and one of each monster. That limits it to a race that has more missile types than most. _________________ Daniel Burkley
