You can't do that. All promotions happen simultaneously. All you could do was promote the hero to the champ.

You've got to lose 2 to Ash Storm via our text conversation I'll drop the EA.
Counter Maneuver - the most I can get is 6 so up to 7 it goes.
Save against 6 - the most I can get is 3 so Mammoth to DuA.
