But so far Dragon Dice is the only event I know I really want to participate in. And would be happy spending my entire time there.

I already have BGG.Con and other conventions for the rest of my board gaming hobby.

Trust me... you WANT to go to GenCon. My first one was two years ago. Its amazing. And I went last year too, and that was amazing (and I won Behemoths!).

There is TONS of stuff you want to do there... you just dont know it yet.

Since there are no Sealed Starter events projected (although I see the discussion about using kickers), how about a "Constructed Starter" event.

Two different 18-health races (1 monster, 1 rare, 3 different uncommons, and 5 different commons), a drake and a wyrm (black, blue, green, gold, red, or ivory) and 4 terrains (all must be different color-combinations with 1 Tower, 1 Temple, 1 Standing Stones, and 1 City). Pretty much what you would expect from a 2-player starter. No advanced rules.

You could combine this with a kicker, or if you make the kicker a Battle Chest, then it would be Advanced Rules. (Hmmm. I might try that at DEXCON.)

I was working on moving away from the starter simply because there are only two of them and its not quite as much fun to play those races over and over.

Its a good idea, but would have to replace something. the obvious choices are either no magicians or single race... I think it would make the most sense to replace single race since its 'closer' in that format.

I had feedback in 2012 that people liked multiplayer and wanted to see it again.

I have not played Multi-Player at GenCon. If you have people telling you they liked it though, prolly want to keep that one. Maybe I will play it this year.

Well, thanks to Congress not being able to agree on much, as far as the budget is concerned, the Federal employee is on the short end of the stick (again). As a result, it appears that I will be taking a 20% (not this is not a misprint) pay cut beginning in May and lasting through the first of October. Needless to say, our financial situation will be a little constrained during this period and, unfortunately, I will have to give up attending GENCON this year. Hopefully we won't see a repeat next year.

Of course what Congress does it can undo, so if enough people contact them to complain about how the sequester is adversely affecting them, it might be undone.
