I don't know if I'm just missing it in the rulebook or if it's somewhere in the forum: Let's say an army is under the effect of Dancing Lights. How do you treat IDs for division and multiplication?
3 ID + 3 icons: 6 magic. Halve to 3. Double to 6 because of 3 ID?
3 ID + 3 icons: 6 magic. Halve to 3. Only 1 ID is eligible to double after halving results, so double to 4?
2 ID + 4 icons: 6 magic. Halve to 3. Double 2 ID, yielding 5 magic?
2 ID + 4 icons: 6 magic. Halve to 3. Double 1 ID, yielding 4?
4 ID + 2 icons: 6 magic. Halve to 3. Double 4 ID, yielding 7?
4 ID + 2 icons: 6 magic. Halve to 3. Double 2 ID, yielding 5?
The last seems counter intuitive because your initial result after division is less than the number of ID showing. In addition to which, those IDs have been halved result wise, so doubling the initial 4 seems kind of weird. |

Yes (if you chose the keep the ID results as your three)

Yes, assuming that you kept the two IDs.

Normally you would choose 3 IDs as the three results you get to keep (because they get doubled). So, you would get 6 magic total. |

So, you get to choose which "halves" to keep, essentially?
Meaning, that after you half the "base results" prior to doubling occurring due to the state of rolling an id, then for the remaining results, you basically choose to keep the "id halves" of the "base results" that you rolled.
So if I roll for magic an uncommon id face (2), a rare id face (3), and three magic icons (3) = 8 "base results".
Then I halve it which = 4 "base results"
Since I started out with a total of "5" in ids, I decide to keep the 4 in ids and double those back to 8? |

| Thanks for the response. I'd been thinking of magic as a pool; the points go in and get modified. It sounds like the halving and doubling is related to the icons; you're not losing half the total, you lose half the icons shown at your discretion. So, a player would keep as many IDs behind to double afterward. |
