I would be interested in an online game, but am limited to playing time being in the evenings after 9pm most any night of the week as I own my own business and don't get near my dice until then.

I should be able to field a 36pt army, with some Dragonkin, I own some magic items/artifacts and could include minor terrains for the play.

Still newer to the game, but thanks to help on the forum I'm getting there. My honesty in my dice rolls will be revealed in the occasional misstep of how to play them. Laughing

This sounds great, I'd love to be your opponent. I've just constructed a relatively easy-going army, consisting exclusively of dice I actually own, and thought about setting up a game to ease back into the dragon dice side of things again. Also, I can manage the board (and like doing so), saving you some precious time Very Happy. The time-difference might mean that we only get one post per day though, but I don't mind. Are you interested?

Tell me how large an army you want to use and I you want to use magic items or smaller terrains, et cetera.

I'll let you know if I can't match something in terms of what dice I have.

If I'm in front of my dice, I'll act as often as possible.

For the moment, I'm going to start constructing a 36 point army, thus assuming no more than 18 magic, 12 (right?) Dragonkin, and 2 dragons. Let me know if different. It will be several hours (at least 5 or 6) before I actually get to the constructing.

Oh, I've got plenty dice, more than enough to make multiple armies (if I may believe my signature, it should be 717, though it might be more). Just not as much from certain rares and monsters as I'd like when constructing armies. The basics are pretty much covered.

It's after midnight here, so I'll have to wait on the backstory...

That said here's what I've got so far:

In my Home Army situated at a Coastland Vortex:

They have a green artifact Dragon Staff with them. (If you want me to skip the artifact and use other creatures, let me know).

2 - Coral Elf Fighters

In my Horde Army (your terrain choice):

You are right on the Dragonkin, I'll remove one with the next update.

Magic items and artifacts are fun, so they are welcome. At a glance, your force looks solid. I did, however, noticed that you took a vortex as your home terrain, which under the current rules isn't possible as the 'special' terrains are limited to frontier-only. Finally, I advise you to look at your troop distribution across the terrain. Though it might be a super-tactical decision to split your troops evenly, it is generally considered to be safer and more effective to stick with a 18/17/1 division (in no particular order).

I'm off hiking for the day, I'll update with rolls and a new board tonight.

Horde Roll:

My Evoker and 1 Bowman rolled ID Icon and 1 Bowman rolled a maneuver. My Coral Giant rolled a trample (is that one or four maneuvers?). At minimum I have 4 and maybe 7 maneuvers.

So Coastland Vortex is Frontier.

Distance roll is 6 - melee.

Now I believe that since I chose the Frontier that you get first turn.

By the way, I didn't see what the starting distance for your Highland Home Frontier was...

Monster icons always count as four of whatever is showing up. So that makes 7 maneuvers.

That's right, I usually wait with rolling terrains until after the horde roll, since the starting distances might otherwise influence the decision to go first or not.

Starting sequence is:
roll horde (reroll any ties)
high roll chooses first or frontier terrain
frontier terrain is chosen
Armies are placed (this is automatic in 2-player, not so much in 3 or more)
terrains are rolled

    Result: 0 melee. Impressively useless. On the bright side, this does mean that you do not get to make a save roll (I did no damage, so there is nothing to save against). You can still counterattack though.

  • Reserve Phase:
    Reinforce: Nothing.
    Retreat: (Assuming your mages don't manage to deal massive damage) My Firewalker mages, the Spider Rider, the Firestormer, Firemasters, Phoenix and Fusiliers all move to reserves.

Save for the Evoker, Maneuver for the Trooper and Magic for the Sprite Swarm.

The hypothetical (in my mind) does not accurately reflect the damage I took from your Firebolts, correct?

Seems like I forgot several things, my boar-keeping skills have gone slightly rusty. The Bowman was one of them, the other was my home being at 2. I suppose you'll want it to be maneuvered to 3?

  • Save roll against the counter-attack:



    Result: 4 saves, no damage taken.


  • Maneuver attempt at my home:
    I cannot outmaneuver 6 maneuvers, so you'll get to change it from 2 to 1 or 3 (or you can keep it at to if you want, I'm ok with that)


  • Save roll against the melee attack:



    Result: 3 saves, the Warlock and 2 Adepts are sent to the DUA. I won't counter-attack.

Go ahead and maneuver your home to 3.

For the magic, is that a typo and it should be Wind Wall x2 which would give 6 extra saves to your Frontier army? Does that affect my ability to maneuver the terrain if I choose to attempt on my turn or just affect combat?

I will oppose the second march:

Yippee! One Bowman gets a maneuver.
