|
|
I wondered, as the game was released in 1995 (and I remember being very excited by the adverts in the run up to its release), will there be anything special for Dragon Dice in 2015?
I mention it, as it seems to me that 20 years is quite an achievement for a game.
All the best

I agree that is a huge accomplishment for any game, whether cult status or active status.
So, anything special...
We have a pipeline of things lined up, it's all a matter of cash flow to spit them out.
Any one of them could be considered anniversary special.
but I will try to think of something really cool that we could crowd fund and have it 'cut in line'. _________________ Multiplayer Champion Gencon11/Battlefest Champion(tied) GenCon10/World Champion GenCon07/National Champion Origins05/Intermediate Champion GenCon02/Novice Champion Origins99 |

Hmmm... I know a pretty good moviemaker. I bet I could get him interested (at the right price). _________________ You can never have too many dice.

Your budget for frostwing makeup had better be good.

and we know at least two actors who would do it. but with mine he'd wanna turn it into a musical.
Steve, get started on that: Chill Wind: the Musical! _________________ Multiplayer Champion Gencon11/Battlefest Champion(tied) GenCon10/World Champion GenCon07/National Champion Origins05/Intermediate Champion GenCon02/Novice Champion Origins99 |

"Steve, get started on that: Chill Wind: the Musical!"
I was thinking maybe some new dice, but I'll take what I can get
Certainly a good year to launch a new starter pack with a '20th Anniversary' logo on it at least. |

Great idea for something anniversary! I'd support crowd-funding something!
Something dice based would be good! |

Just thinking out loud here, what about a 20th anniversary Dragon Shield?
Wouldn't be too hard to produce in comparison to dice, and could provide a much needed revised pack of spell cards?
just a thought.... |

| Everybody else is crowdfunding. For something like Dragon Dice which has a devout following, it's worth a try. |

| I'm just shocked that a PC game hasn't been made. Seems like a simple thing to code! |

No offense, but you would be about the 100th person to try and then give up. It is very much not simple. It's the exact opposite of simple. That's why it hasn't been done. _________________ You can never have too many dice.

Have you considered contracting an engine which doesn't include the rules in it? There was an MtG game engine a while back whose name I can't remember that just had the cards coded and it was up to the players (and honor system) to know/handle the rules. |

Have you considered contracting out a simple program without a rules engine? I.E. one that just rolls and displays dice. Someone made such a program for MtG back in the day called Apprentice.
EDIT: I edited this post to have the content of both other posts, since this one got cleared and the other didn't. |

Egad. I hadn't considered just how many variations of adding and subtracting targeted effects the game had, and how that could confuse the crap out of a program.
I still think an Apprentice-Style program would be do-able, but that's coming from a person who could be described, at best, as a novice...so... |

Concerning this one, there are several virtual table tops where people have started to implement just the dice images. They meet with more or less success. It has unfortunately not been a priority to this date. _________________ Multiplayer Champion Gencon11/Battlefest Champion(tied) GenCon10/World Champion GenCon07/National Champion Origins05/Intermediate Champion GenCon02/Novice Champion Origins99 |
