I know that the audience I'm asking is a limited one, but does anyone attend Dragoncon in Atlanta or are local enough that you would considering attending to help SFR run demos?

Hey there Cliff! It's me Cliff Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Actually I go to Dragon*Con every year with TheOneRing.net -- in recent years we have made quite a publicity stunt out of it, doing a well publicized Road Trip as a fundraiser for the site, doing live streaming video during the entire cross country trip.

http://www.theonering.net/torwp/2012/08/20/61024-support-our-journey-on-the-road-to-dragoncon-2012/

We will be going again, this year we run the entire Tolkien Track, as a team of volunteers from TheOneRing.net

So I'll be there and might be able to help out -- depends because I have a pretty rough schedule while I'm there doing interviews/ hosting the live stream, etc.

Cheers!
Clifford

Thanks.

Their website wasn't real clear on the registration process, so we are on the waiting list (after I convinced them to find our registration which apparently got lost)...

So if we attend as a vendor I won't know until the last minute, but I will be there atleast one day as an attendee to scope the place out for next year.

That would be really wonderful if you attended. Dragon*Con is a unique event; probably the most fun out of ALL the geek conventions. You'll see if you stay for more than one day/ one night.

Events are spread through the host hotels, not inside a centralized convention venue or hall. There's a lot of partying and dancing all night..... lots of geekery and cosplay during the day. It's a helluva lot more fun than San Diego Comic-Con that's for sure.

There's less of an emphasis on collectible toys/ more focus on cosplay. However I've heard there will be some changes this year, not sure what to expect at the host hotels.

I attended once (for a few hours) before I lived in GA.

Now that I do live about 40 miles from the hotels, I find it hard to justify getting a hotel room instead of just driving home (we aren't dancing and party people anyway).

I'm still crossing my fingers to be able to exhibit, but not planning on it.

There's a chance I might go down south this year to the con. Are you trying to get in again this year?

No. Even if I wanted to try, they are full up for 2014 already and after my experiences communicating and attending the con in 2013...

It's not the right CON for our type of game.

I know this is a bit late, but I logged on to find out if SFR will be at Dragon Con and it appears that SFR won't be there. I used to be a Rep and demo for SFR and I did go to Dragon Con with Scott Cobbs (I think that was his name). That was quite a few years ago. I am going this year and I was hoping to see SFR there but maybe next year. However I am just getting back into Dragon Dice and I might ask to be a Rep again. As there is a great new Game store that just opened near where I live.

Hey Jeff,

I'm Cliff and I know Scott very well. He works in the office across the street from mine. While he is no longer active with SFR, he is still strong into gaming.

I visited Dragoncon last year and didn't feel that it was our type of convention. From what Scott and I have talked about he agreed from those days in the past when you would've gone with him. Did you have a different view?

I live just north of Cumming, what area are you in (and what's the new game store). If you want to get back into repping I can give you lots of local support. I could also use a pair of eyes on something I'll be doing the next four weeks...

and check out both daemon dice and our new kickstarter since you are getting back into things.

It has been a while since I’ve been to Dragon Con but from what I can remember it wasn’t all that great for gaming. I am kind of hoping it might be different this year and I can give you my opinion when I get back. I live just south of Perry and the new store I was talking about is Vigilantes Comics & Café in Warner Robins. They want to do different types of gaming and I mentioned Dragon Dice and they are interested in checking out. I will do my best to try to help out, just let me know.

Last year it wasn't good for gaming, but let me know.

Perry? we are about as far apart as we can be. but you might try Daemon Dice at that store. Tell them it's NOT just another zombie dice, but it is much simpler for people who aren't ready for dragon dice yet.

I can show them the Dragon Dice I have to see if they would be interested and I can tell them about Daemon Dice. Do you have any downloadable rules for Daemon Dice so I have an idea what it is about and how it works?

I am sorry that I wasn't able to get off from work over Labor Day weekend, and my long-term plans to be at Dragon*Con did not play out .....

There is something to be said about whether Dragon*Con is the appropriate type of Con for gamers. The short answer: Not really, as most attendees there are enjoying the cosplay and party atmosphere/ the live music/ the all night dancing, etc etc. They really aren't there for more sedate activities like tabletop gaming.

The crowd at WonderCon in Anaheim are much more prone to be gamers, I have discovered, and even San Diego Comic-Con has provided a new space for their tabletop gaming activities.

We should look forward to WonderCon at least. One of these days I will be able to attend PAX with dproman and get to introduce myself to others on the SFR team.

Thanks all,
Cheers,
