I can't watch everything in this game, but one thing jumped out.
You got those during a maneuver roll. that is one of the few rolls where a cantrip does nothing. So you didn't have that magic.
To answer your other question. if you cast a spell during their turn and it expires 'at the beginning', then it expires 'at the beginning' of your turn no matter how short of a time that is.

Sorry I didn't realize you were waiting on me! And I was out of town this weekend!
For the counter maneuver I rolled a trample.
And for the save roll I also rolled a trample. |
