Hey gang!
It's been a while.
FINALLY had a chance to review the 3.0 rules, and I noticed a few things that I really like:
*Calculating Roll Results list shows clearly how to handle SAIs w/r/t halving effects. Before, it was a little murky.
*The Tower now has some teeth! It is no longer the default choice for the Frontier when you don't want to risk being beaten with your own proverbial stick.
*R.I.P. truly odd ducks that required the rules to be really complicated: Amazon reserve missiles, Galeforce affecting Fly, and especially Haunt, the spell that required an entire section in the rules for "magically constructed armies". Good riddance!
*Group monsters - gone!
*SAI's don't stack, so no more 'Tripping in 3 Lightning Strikes on a save roll.
*Amazons can now cast magic from reserves like everyone else. Makes a little more sense to bring Amazon mages, now. I remember someone quite some time ago observed that they were very underrated.
*Elemental Spells! Spells that were either already in every color or had analogues in a few are now available in every color!
*Burial spells - gone!
*Path to Victory - gone! Yeah, Path needed to have some teeth pulled.
*Invisibility spells - gone! No more of this: "Sure, I have only one unit there, but it's Hidden, so you can't do anything about it, but it still counts as an army and I have 47 Wind Walks cast on it, and I'm maneuvering. Not rolling any dice, but beat 188 maneuvers."
*In fact, ALL lingering unit affects (Burning Hands, et al) - gone! No more keeping track of who has Earthen Armor!
*Elevate got a boost. So did Kick and Wave.
*And last, but not least, we have a new SAI: Hoof!

We did walk back a bit one change (look for 3.01 to be out soon), SAIs will all stack again EXCEPT Cantrip. Each Cantrip has to be cast separately. So any spell that is 5 points or more, can only be cast by a full magic action, not by Cantrips. _________________ You can never have too many dice.
