Does the vanish ability take place before or after damage is resolved. (i.e. if the Ghost is the only unit left at a terrain, the army is targeted for 4 damage, and the Ghost rolls 3 Vanish.) Does the ghost move before damage is taken, or is damage taken and the vanish negated? _________________ "If toast lands butter side down and cats always land on their feet, what would happen if you strapped butter toast to the back of a cat and dropped it off a building?" |

Since Vanish has a "Special" resolution that takes place "immediately," the Ghost may move away from the terrain and avoid the damage. In your example, the Ghost wouldn't take damage anyway, since Vanish also generates 3 saves before the move occurs. However, if 7 or more points of damage were generated, the Ghost would have to Vanish away to avoid them.
This is only when normal, army-targeting damage is generated. If the Ghost is targeted by an SAI or spell that produces unit-targeting damage (such as Lightning Strike), the damage will follow the Ghost to its new terrain and affect it there. _________________ Steve "DDice" Braun
