The rule says, ". . . each Smite icon immediately inflicts one point of damage on the defending army or unit . . ." The 2 of us playing are both neophytes and were confused by this. The defending army or unit is where we got confused. Does the damage target only one unit within an army, or the whole army? Does the attacker get to direct this damage or does the defender decide the casualties?

Second question: The original pamphlet that came with Firewalkers does not agree with the web site rules for racial abilities. Specifically, the web site lists the following as an additional racial ability, " Flaming Shields: Firewalkers may, during a melee attack, count save results . . . as if they were melee results." Is this a typo or a change to make Firewalkers tougher?

During a melee attack roll, Smite inflicts damage to the defending army. The defender chooses which units are killed. The "or unit" part is for situations where a unit is making a individual melee attack roll, such as when resolving the Coil SAI.

The Firewalkers got an extra ability to make them more playable.

The old rules pamphlets are obsolete. The rules posted on SFR's website are the current and official rules. Please use those.
