The spell says "...send *any* dragon..." I'm assuming the emphasis means that I can send any of my opponent's dragons to a terrain. Can that include any dragons that haven't been brought into play yet? (ie.: still in his dead unit area)

Yes, you can summon any dragon of the right color from any player's summoning pool to any terrain. Or you can summon any dragon of the right color from any terrain to any terrain. Including from a terrain to right back at the same terrain. Why would you do that? To break loose a tamed dragon. See the description of Dragonlords and Dragonmasters for more information.

Only the truely evil would summon your dragons to attack your armies!

Well... If it contributed to winning the game, I guess being evil can have its advantages.

Even the homemade dragon I'm making with 12 tail faces?

I wouldn't mind that. All I have to do is 'finger' one of your units then let the dragon attack me. It would never stop rolling tails, thus the game would timeout and I'd win on health. Twisted Evil

Again, my lack of encyclopedic knowledge shows. What do you mean by "finger one of my units?" I'm sure it isn't as bad as it *sounds*.... Exclamation

"Finger" (also "FoD") means:

"Finger of Death-Casting Cost: 4, Spell List: Basic-Black
Target any enemy unit. Immediately inflict one point of damage to the target unit with no save possible. Multiple castings increase the effect or target another unit."

Once he gets you down by 1h, if your dragon attacks the game will never end-or, in a tournament, end when time runs out. Neither of you will have a terrain, so the next tiebreaker is most health in play, and he'd be up one.

I knew you'd ask, but I just wanted to see the 'face' on your post so I left it unexplained.

(Thanks for explaining it in more detail)

Still another dragon question... (I probably shoulda started a new thread, but it's getting messy.)

I'm puzzled by the Basic rules wording. It says "...if there is a sufficient amount of *non-ID* melee or missile hits to kill a dragon (or multiple dragons), then the dragon is killed." (Emphasis mine.) But then in Example #1 below it, the ID icons DO count toward killing the dragon. (9 melee plus 1 ID equals dead dragon.) So, do the IDs count or not?

Ah... you've found the super-secret weasel rule. Laughing There are times when you actually have enough missile or melee by the addition of IDs that you could kill a dragon. But you decide not to. Like you want to leave the dragon to chomp on someone else's army at the same terrain. So that rule says, that if you have 10 missile or 10 melee (only 5 if one rolled belly), without using IDs, then the dragon is dead no matter what. If on the other hand you have only enough missile or melee to kill a dragon if you add IDs, then you simply count the IDs as saves, and the dragon lives on. Remember, during a dragon attack, you are rolling for 3 things: saves, melee and missile. You can assign IDs to any of those three things as you wish. You can also assign penalties (like Ash Storm) to any of those three things as you wish.

Ok, that's easy enough to understand. I just wonder if there's a clearer way for the rules to get that across. I suppose the ID icon could better be described as a wildcard to be used as I see fit. But "the dice speak". Or as it was said of another game, "the dice never lie."
