What does a flaming shield during a dragon attack do?
Attack, defense, or both? |

Well, Flaming Armor just increases defense now. I think this is a rework from the DCM, so it would have no attack ability during a dragon attack or any other attack, for that matter -- just double saves.
| Quote: | Flaming Armor Casting Cost: 4 Spell List: Lava Elf
Target one of your units not already under the effects of a Flaming Armor spell. The target unit’s save results are
doubled. This spell remains in effect until it is used by the unit or until the unit generates non-SAI save results needed
by the army. Multiple castings target multiple units. |

Since the army's roll against the dragon is a combination roll, you can choose whether each Firewalker save icon is to be a save or melee result. It cannot be both at the same time. _________________ "Everything Brad said is correct." - Chuck Pint |

No RexRanarum, you are confusing the spell Flaming Armor, with the Firewalker saves (aka Flaming Shields).
Again this is a case of general going into specific. Flaming Shields generate saves during a save roll. They generate melee during a melee roll. After a dragon attack, the army roll is a combination roll of melee, missile and saves. Any icon (including SAIs) that generate normal melee missile or save results are counts. Otherwise, an icon only generates results during a dragon attack if it specifically says it does, works during any roll, or works in any non-maneuver roll, or the like.
So in the case of a dragon attack, you can count Firewalker saves as saves or melee (but not both). _________________ You can never have too many dice.

No, it does not always have to be saves, but no, it cannot do both. _________________ Dragon Dice Musing and Such @ Reality's End |
