As I've finally got my paper done, I've once again got time to do battle with my dice! I once again invite Wietmarschen to join me in this thread and test his die-rolling strength - Dutch Duel Style!

the forces: 36 health - standard rules

Once again, I've mainly used dice that I've got. I'm lacking a few minor terrains, a major terrain and a few noble willows, but random.org/ddassist will happily provide stand-ins. I don't mind you using fictional dice at all.

It is pretty odd that I found it so very hard to build a decent and interesting treefolk army. While constructing up with this army I already got three new ideas for armies involving Scalders. I think this army is hardly tier-1 quality, but it should still be interesting and challenging enough to provide a decent match.

Curses! Beaten by just 1 maneuver!

You get to pick first turn or terrain. In the meantime, I'll fix the board and post it here.

I also want to add that I love that you've brought harpies. Harpies are amongst my favorite monsters in the game.

Sorry to interrupt but how'd you guys get the rolls like that? Does the program do rollsor did you just roll your actual dice and insert the icons for what you rolled?

I roll actual dice and then look up the icons in the bbcode images thread. Lots of work, but it looks pretty.

I choose to start the turn.

I roll my home terrain: Magic 3

What are the other terrains gonna be?

I am sorry to see that I forgot to add one Trickster to my home army. Is it still ok to add that unit?

The trickster is added, no problem at all.

I choose the dragons lair as frontier. My terrains rolled:
Home:
Frontier:

Sigh. No mages and an all-magic opening. This is certainly going to be an interesting battle.

Ok, let's go for it.

First march at my home
Maneuver attempt:

Results: 1 maneuver only, and for the cantrip I cast 2 ash storms at the frontier terrain.

I will await your counter maneuver for any possible SAI's.

Cheers,
H

cantrips work during any non-maneuver-roll, so I'll stay dust-free for now.

I'll counter, as I don't think you're intending on getting into missile range.

result: 6 x 2 = 12 maneuvers.

Well, just for my understanding of the rules for Cantrip I put here the quote:

During any non-magic action, save roll or non-maneuver avoidance roll, Cantrip can be used to purchase spells that are immediately resolved.

I would say that a maneuver is one of the non-magic actions (it is not a maneuver avoidance). This would mean that Cantrip could be used.

Anyway, here is my magic action at may home (a very nice throw on my carpet at home!):

Results: 22 Gold magic (or 18 red and 4 black)

Summon 2 ivory dragons to the frontier terrain for 14 Gold. Cast 4 ash storms on the frontier terrain with the remaining 8 Red magic).

Second March at your home terrain
Maneuver attempt:
()

Results: 7 maneuvers

Move terrain up 1 step to Magic 3.
Cast magic:

Results: 2 Red and 3 Black magic, cast 1 Ash storm on my home terrain and 1 Palsy on your army at my Home terrain.

Reserve movement
Pull Pony rider at frontier back to reserves.

End of turn

Dragon attack:

I am really amazed at these rolls. I am looking forward to your reply.

No.
1 - If a roll is not listed in the SAI description, then the SAI does not function during that roll.
The Cantrip SAI description does not list any effect for a maneuver roll, therefore it does nothing during a maneuver roll.
Ever since the beginning of the game in 1995, Cantrip has never worked during a maneuver roll.
2 - A maneuver is not an action (see action and maneuver in the glossary).

My first turn:

Spell and effect expiration: none
Initial Effects Phase: none

Dragon Attack Phase:

13 melee, 7 saves and 2 Id which I chose to use as melee. Noble willow, oak and naiad die. I kill both dragons, promoting twice: willow-> noble willow, oakling -> oak, nymph ->naiad for first promotions,[s] then willowling -> willow for second[s].

That went better than expected actually...

First March: @ frontier
Maneuver: I'll roll the terrain up to 2

Replanting: I'll trade the nymph and willowling for an oak.
Action: missile at your army at the frontier.
3 Id's, but they are nullified by ash storm. No resurrectional stuff, so I'll leave out the pictures.

Second March @ your home
Manuever:

result: 12 manuevers, -2 from modifiers makes 10.

I'll await your roll.

F

Nope, you only get to promote once for killing dragons.

Hmm, in that case I replant that action to have an oak and a naiad in my DUA. I won't reroll because it would give me the unfair advantage of getting logo's or replants. Thanks for the heads-up by the way.

Didn't you forget the Ash storms at the frontier terrain during the Dragon attack?

I applied the modifier to the saves, which caused them to drop from 7 to 3. 10-3=7, so I killed the noble willow (3h) and the naiad and oak (both 2h). Sorry for the vagueness, I'll try to be a little clearer next time.
