My Treefolk need some more test-runs for a single-race tournament I might attend, so I've assembled a new army. This time, I'm going for a more traditional approach:

I think that's a wrong minor you got there.

25! Treefolk aren't supposed to roll that well in melee!! (especially treefolk cavalry)

    The Oak Lord and a Hamadryad get replanted for the Unicorn.

    4 gold - Path on a Lady Neirid who takes the gold medallion along with her.



    Pfft. Return the Oak lord and the Hamadryad back to life.



    Result: 10 melee, which should be enough to kill your mage.

One thing if for sure....the herald is a counter rolling machine! (too bad that really doesn't matter because of how bad you're shellacking me and your gold medallion is a beast)

Actually, you don't get any saves from your maneuvers, as I've cast TRtM on your army. Sorry... Embarassed So I believe even the Knight is sent to the DUA. My Oak Lord takes the counter damage (1 is saved by Watery Double) and is sent to the DUA as well.

The safe route instead of trying to keep you off the 8th with the unicorn would have been to cast Wind Walks / Watery Doubles at my home but I went for the High Risk / High Reward with the Lightning / FF / WoF. I still like this army though. I just got hit so hard at the beginning that I was reeling pretty quickly.

Teleport / Path / Wayfare / Replanting / Gold Medallion is just nasty. Nice army you've got there.

Thanks for the game! So this is what it takes to beat the mighty Maccabeus Razz.

Seriously though, there was very little you could have done. My rolls were ridiculous. Even my bad choices paid off. For example, I realized later that I probably shouldn't have counted on wiping you out at your home, which meant that dancing lights would probably have been better than TRtM. Instead, I just rolled terrific and smashed any opposition. Which basically summed up the game. There were several pivotal rolls in which the game could have gone very differently. It was precisely at these points which I got what I wanted, and then a whole lot more.

I think your army is pretty solid. The only thing I might change is to try and add a Gryphon to the mix, as it is a great way to enable your buffs to have a target if there isn't a force present yet. Apart from that, it doesn't detract that much from the theme of the army as it is still quite quick and saves decently. This is a 'might change', however, as I believe it isn't your intention to leave your home terrain in any way, meaning the effect of Ferry is somewhat lost under usual circumstances.

As for my army: It's kind of hard to look past the fantastic rolls, but I still think I'm impressed. This force allows me to shift pressure at just about any moment, which also helps to get the most out of the medallion. The rest of the army feels like a brick. It might still be a bit slow for my tastes in 'cavalry-heavy armies', but when you play with Dragonne Knights too often, everything looks slow in comparison. I'm still a bit in doubt about my home terrain, as an additional missile face would probably be better if it wasn't for Dwarves and Lava Elves. And once again, I had great fun with the replanting-shenannigans. I was actually quite happy to see you roll your first counter of the game Very Happy.
